Royal College of Nursing announces wellbeing grants and Scottish nursing awards

The Royal College of Nursing (RCN) Foundation has announced the availability of grants up to £1,200 for UK registered nurses to support wellbeing and peer support projects. The annual Amin Abdullah Grant, established in partnership with the family of the late nurse Amin Abdullah, will award two grants to initiatives that foster compassionate support among colleagues while maintaining patient safety. Supported by the British Indian Nurses’ Association, eligible projects include mentor-mentee partnerships, emotional debrief sessions, and mindfulness or resilience programmes. Funding excludes capital costs, mandatory training, or professional development courses. Applications close on 9 October 2026.

Separately, nominations are open for the RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year Awards 2027. The awards aim to celebrate nursing innovation and professionalism across Scotland through 13 categories, including a new Community Nursing Award. The program covers various roles from adult nursing to mental health and clinical leadership. The ceremony will also present the Chief Nursing Officer for Scotland Award for Excellence and the RCN Scotland Nurse of the Year title.
