Royal Cornwall Hospital inquest follows death of one-year-old

An inquest has been held into the death of one-year-old Trixie Morvoren Cooke at Royal Cornwall Hospital in Truro. Trixie, who had Down Syndrome and a congenital heart defect, was rushed to the hospital in April 2025 after experiencing pale episodes and fluctuating consciousness following a cold.

During the inquest, her parents, Ashleigh and James, expressed significant dissatisfaction with the medical care provided. Ashleigh stated she had ‘lost faith in the doctors’ after feeling her concerns regarding her daughter’s wellbeing were ‘not taken seriously’ and noting failed attempts to administer treatment. James testified that he felt information was ‘withheld’ from him due to the use of medical jargon and being excluded from clinical conversations.
