Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron to host 2027 World Sailing championships

The Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron (RNZYS) has been selected to host two major sailing events in Auckland, New Zealand, in November 2027: the World Sailing Youth Match Racing World Championship and the World Sailing Women’s Match Racing World Championship.

The championships will take place on Waitematā Harbour. The Youth Match Racing event is scheduled for 15–20 November 2027, followed immediately by the Women’s Match Racing event from 22–26 November 2027. The hosting is supported by Auckland Council Events.

The 2027 competitions coincide with the 40th anniversary of the RNZYS Youth Training Programme. World Sailing officials noted that combining these events into a single racing window aims to increase visibility and collaboration for youth and women’s match racing disciplines.
