Royal Orient bamboo shoot cans recalled due to BPA leaching

The National Commercial and Consumer Protection Authority has issued a recall for Royal Orient brand bamboo shoot slices and bamboo shoot strips in cans due to the leaching of bisphenol-A (BPA). The alert follows a notification from the European Union’s Rapid Alert System for Food and Feed (RASFF) regarding the Chinese-origin products.

The affected 567-gram cans have an expiration date of September 25, 2028, and are imported by Asia Express Food B.V. based in the Netherlands. Specific batch identifiers include LM00021616 and LM00022060 for bamboo shoot strips, and LM00021845 for bamboo shoot slices. The product barcode is 8 719497 398218.

BPA leaching poses significant health risks, as the chemical is known to damage the hormonal and immune systems. Authorities have advised consumers who possess the recalled products not to consume them.
