Royal Science and Technology Park promotes digital innovation in Eswatini
The Royal Science and Technology Park (RSTP) in Eswatini is promoting digital and technological advancements to drive national and continental development. The organization has called on local innovators to participate in the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA) Digital Innovation Challenge. The 2026 challenge, themed ‘Realising the AfCFTA for MSMEs through Digital Solutions’, seeks homegrown technology to facilitate cross-border trade, including e-commerce platforms, payment systems, and logistics tools for micro, small, and medium enterprises.
Additionally, RSTP is advocating for the integration of artificial intelligence (AI) across key sectors in Eswatini, such as agriculture, healthcare, and education. Experts from the RSTP suggest that AI can address practical challenges, such as improving medical diagnostics in rural areas and enhancing agricultural productivity. The focus remains on empowering citizens with the necessary skills to work alongside AI to mitigate concerns regarding unemployment and technological displacement.
