Royal Thai Army Tests Foldable Anti‑Drone Mesh on T‑84 Oplot‑T Tank

Images posted on social media on 29 July 2026 appear to show a Royal Thai Army T‑84 Oplot‑T main battle tank fitted with a foldable wire‑mesh canopy mounted above the turret. The structure is designed to act as a stand‑off barrier that could disrupt or prematurely detonate FPV‑drone‑delivered munitions before they strike the tank’s roof.

Thai defence officials have not confirmed the modification, the number of vehicles involved, or its operational status. Open‑source analysts link the photos to a defence‑focused X account (@wuthi11_), suggesting the army is evaluating low‑cost anti‑drone solutions inspired by recent combat experience in Ukraine. If adopted, the system would add a physical layer to the tank’s protection suite, complementing camouflage, electronic warfare and other counter‑drone measures.
