Royal Throne returns to Roermond for exhibition
The Royal Throne, designed by Pierre Cuypers in 1904, has returned to Roermond for the exhibition ‘Van Maker tot Majesteit’ at the Cuypershuis. The throne, which is a central symbol of the Dutch monarchy used during Prinsjesdag, was originally crafted in Cuypers' Roermond ateliers.
The exhibition highlights the craftsmanship and various specialists involved in its creation. Beyond its historical value, local officials, including Mayor Yolanda Hoogtanders, noted that the throne serves as a focal point for discussing democracy and the role of citizens. The exhibition includes an educational program where students will learn about Pierre Cuypers, craftsmanship, and democratic processes.
