Sejm Ethics Committee reprimands five MPs over prosecutor's office incident

The Sejm Ethics Committee has issued reprimands to five members of parliament following an incident at the National Prosecutor's Office in May. The penalized lawmakers include four members of Law and Justice (PiS)—Maciej Małecki, Jan Mosiński, Agnieszka Wojciechowska van Heukelom, and Andrzej Śliwka—and one member of the newly formed Rozwój Plus club, Krzysztof Lipiec.

The disciplinary action stems from a motion by National Prosecutor Dariusz Korneluk regarding the lawmakers' conduct on May 20. During the interrogation of Tomasz Sakiewicz, editor-in-chief of Telewizja Republika, the MPs entered the protected zone of the prosecutor's headquarters. While the MPs claimed they were conducting parliamentary interventions, the prosecutor alleged they entered without proper authorization, failed to follow security procedures, and ignored orders from prison service officers to leave the building.

This incident occurs as the Sejm resumes its session following the summer break, marked by the emergence of the Rozwój Plus parliamentary club. The new club, formed by members of Mateusz Morawiecki's association, will receive separate funding from the Sejm Chancellery, which will be deducted from the budget previously allocated to PiS.
