RPCS3 emulator reaches 75% PlayStation 3 game compatibility

The open‑source RPCS3 team announced that 75 % of the PlayStation 3 library is now fully playable on PC. Of the 3,559 catalogued titles, 2,681 are marked “Playable,” meaning they can be completed without major glitches. An additional 22.93 % are in the “In‑game” tier with performance or visual issues, 1.71 % remain stuck at the intro menu, and only 0.03 % are merely loadable. The milestone was reported on 14 July 2026.

The achievement comes as Sony prepares to shut the PS3 digital store by July 2027 and phase out physical disc production for new PlayStation titles. With official digital storefronts disappearing, RPCS3 provides a means to preserve and continue playing PS3 titles, especially those that may become unavailable or prohibitively expensive in physical form. Notable exclusives such as The Last of Us, God of War III and Metal Gear Solid 4 are still in the “In‑game” tier, pending further improvements.

The compatibility data is publicly available on the RPCS3 website, allowing users to check the status of individual games. The emulator’s continued development includes performance enhancements, Vulkan API support, and ongoing fixes aimed at eventually achieving full library compatibility.
