Collegiate athletics: RPI upsets Northeastern and Union extends soccer shutout streak

Various collegiate athletic teams competed in recent matchups across hockey and soccer.

In women's hockey, Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute (RPI) secured a 2-1 overtime victory against #5 Northeastern, led by Barbora Cerna-Proskova's winning goal and 41 saves from Sadie Bellissimo. In men's hockey, RIT defeated Niagara 4-2, with William Moore scoring two goals, including an empty-netter. Colgate University opened its season with a 6-3 win over RIT, highlighted by Alexia Aubin's four-point performance.

In women's soccer, Union College extended its shutout streak to 346 minutes with a 1-0 win over RPI, courtesy of a goal by Hannah Sams. Conversely, Susquehanna University lost 1-0 to Elizabethtown, and Salisbury University fell 1-0 to Gettysburg College. In men's soccer, Siena University and Saint Peter's played to a 3-3 draw, with Lucas Almeida scoring twice for the Saints.
