RSC Anderlecht sale trial scheduled for December

A Brussels criminal court has scheduled new dates for the legal proceedings regarding the 2017 sale of the RSC Anderlecht football club. The trial is set to begin with pleas on December 7, with additional sessions scheduled for December 8 and 10.

The case centers on the takeover by businessman Marc Coucke, who acquired 74 percent of the club's shares. The federal prosecutor's office is investigating potential irregularities during the sale process, including allegations that Coucke received false financial statements.

Additionally, the investigation involves football agent Christophe Henrotay, who introduced potential buyers and sought a finder's fee. Prosecutors suspect a portion of these commissions may have been covertly distributed to individuals involved in the sale, including former manager Herman Van Holsbeeck and former CEO Jo Van Biesbroek.
