Réseau Canin Québécois launched at Quebec's 7th Rendez-Vous Canin in Laval
The Réseau Canin Québécois (RCQ), a provincial canine‑education network created by the organization Le Chien Rose, was unveiled to the public on 8–9 August 2026 at the 7th Rendez‑Vous Canin held at the Centre de la nature in Laval, Quebec. The two‑day fair, which draws about 20 000 visitors, featured agility demonstrations, Aqua Dogs zones, a new cat aisle and other pet‑related services.
RCQ aims to prevent dog‑related conflicts by placing QR‑coded signs in parks, trails, terraces and commercial areas. Scanning a code gives owners free, short educational capsules on topics such as crossing another dog, entering a terrace with a pet, supervising children, or recognizing calming signals. Founder Rose Proulx said the goal is to equip owners with information at the moment it is needed rather than adding more municipal regulations. The project was financially supported by the Corporation de développement économique des Laurentides, with the MRC des Laurentides slated to be the first region to deploy the system. Donations collected at the event were earmarked for the animal‑welfare group GE Cherche Charly.
