Jeddah Islamic Port to receive $434 million terminal investment
Red Sea Gateway Terminal (RSGT) and the French shipping group CMA CGM have signed an agreement to develop and operate Terminal 4 at Jeddah Islamic Port. The project, conducted in collaboration with the Saudi Ports Authority (Mawani), involves an investment of approximately SAR 1.6 billion (US$434 million).
The agreement was finalized during the French-Saudi Investment Roundtable Meeting in Paris, attended by Saudi Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman and French President Emmanuel Macron. The development aims to bolster Saudi Arabia’s National Transport and Logistics Strategy and Vision 2030 by reducing economic dependence on hydrocarbons.
The new terminal is expected to provide an annual handling capacity of up to 2.6 million TEUs. Infrastructure improvements will include deep-water berths designed to accommodate next-generation, large-scale container vessels, as well as the installation of 10 new ship-to-shore cranes and advanced operational technologies to enhance efficiency and reliability.
