RSPCA investigates discovery of dead puppies in Leigh park

The RSPCA has launched an investigation following the discovery of dead puppies at Crankwood Park in Leigh on August 25. The animals were found by a group of children near a children's play area.

According to local councillor David Evans, three puppies were found wrapped in garments and placed in bags within a five-metre radius of each other. Following the discovery, Wigan Council implemented an urgent closure of the park to allow for a full search and to ensure public safety. The park has since been deemed safe to reopen.

The RSPCA is currently following lines of enquiry and has expressed concern regarding the welfare of any surviving animals that may belong to the same litter.
