RSPO reports sustainable palm oil now supplies 20% of global market and protects 550,000 hectares
The Roundtable on Sustainable Palm Oil (RSPO) released its 2026 Impact Report showing that 16.2 million metric tonnes of RSPO Certified Sustainable Palm Oil (CSPO) were sold in 2025, representing about 20 % of global palm‑oil supply. RSPO member growers have a total capacity of 31.4 million tonnes, and the organisation projects that CSPO could reach nearly 40 % of the market as more plantations become certified.
The report highlights environmental benefits, with more than 550,000 hectares of critical land protected and nearly 3 million tonnes of greenhouse‑gas emissions avoided. It also notes US$7.9 million generated for smallholder farmers. RSPO membership now totals 6,280 members in 103 countries, with notable growth in China, Indonesia and Japan. Conservation achievements include protecting 551,637 hectares of high‑carbon‑stock and peatland areas, such as the 8,300‑hectare biodiversity project led by Bumitama Agri Ltd in West Kalimantan, Indonesia.
