RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat discusses democracy and India's global goals

Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS) Chief Mohan Bhagwat addressed an Independence Day gathering in Nagpur, stating that debate, dialogue, opposition, and protests are essential components of a democracy. He emphasized that while conflicting viewpoints and questioning in the public interest are necessary, citizens must remain mindful of their responsibilities.

Bhagwat cited B. R. Ambedkar as a model for addressing diverse perspectives during the drafting of the Constitution. He also highlighted the importance of nurturing India’s youth, describing them as a “demographic dividend” that can either become a national asset or a societal burden depending on how they are guided.

Furthermore, Bhagwat asserted that various internal and external forces are working against India’s objective of becoming a global leader, or “Vishwaguru.” He called on citizens to strengthen the nation’s independence by striving for prosperity and security, while maintaining the country's core principles to serve as a guiding light to the world.
