RSS Chief Mohan Bhagwat warns against regime change efforts in India

Mohan Bhagwat, head of the Rashtriya Swayamsevak Sangh (RSS), has cautioned against movements seeking regime change in India, characterizing such efforts as being fueled by Western forces intent on seeing the country fail.

During his annual Dussehra address, Bhagwat drew parallels between recent political unrest in countries such as France, Albania, Bangladesh, and Nepal, suggesting that attempts to engineer political instability are a recurring global phenomenon. He asserted that while public grievances and protests are natural in a democracy, they should aim for constructive solutions rather than deepening societal divisions or being driven by short-term electoral interests.

The comments follow recent calls for regime change by political figures including Prashant Bhushan and Uddhav Thackeray. These calls emerged amidst protests in the Indian capital regarding the resignation of Chief Election Commissioner Gyanesh Kumar, following allegations concerning nationwide voter roll revisions. Bhagwat maintained that despite these challenges, India’s social strength and progress will prevent successful attempts to destabilize the nation.
