RTE helicopter inspections in Nord and Pas-de-Calais

RTE (Réseau de Transport d’Électricité) is conducting a four-day helicopter operation across the Nord and Pas-de-Calais departments in France from September 14 to September 17, 2026.

The low-altitude flights, occurring between 20 and 60 meters above the ground at speeds of approximately 30 km/h, aim to inspect the condition of electrical lines, monitor nearby vegetation, and check for any ongoing construction work near installations.

The mission involves a crew of three, including a pilot, a navigator assistant, and an operator. RTE has stated that the operation will not cause any power outages and is part of its public service mission to ensure continuous electricity access.
