Őrtilos village linked to controversial National Cultural Fund grants

Investigations into the National Cultural Fund (NKA) funding scandal have revealed significant public money allocations in the village of Őrtilos, Somogy County. The small village, with approximately 400 residents, received a disproportionately high amount of funding, with two local associations securing a combined 60 million forints.

Kornél Kelei, a 26-year-old local representative and deputy leader of a youth organization linked to the KDNP, leads the Holdkő Settlement Development Association, which received 30 million forints. Kelei stated that the association received a direct invitation from the NKA to apply for support. He noted that the invitation did not specify the exact amount of funding available, leading him to enter an estimated figure.

A portion of the funds, approximately 20 million forints, was reportedly used to organize events regarding the life of Miklós Zrínyi in several locations, including Nagyatád, Csurgó, Barca, and Őrtilos. However, investigations found no public traces of these events on the association's website.

Questions have also been raised regarding the connection between the association and Zita Kelei, a Fidesz local representative candidate, as the association's registered address is her property and its social media presence has been used for political campaigning.
