RTÜK Chairman Mehmet Daniş Calls for Respectful Media Representation of Women

RTÜK Chairman Mehmet Daniş warned that portraying women as objects in media constitutes a form of symbolic violence. He urged broadcasters and advertisers to present women as strong, respected and fair participants in society, rather than as stereotyped figures. Daniş emphasized that responsible broadcasting, guided by ethical principles against gender‑based violence, is essential for shaping public perception and combating violence toward women.

He reaffirmed the regulator’s commitment to promote these standards and to continue work on the “Ethical Principles for Combating Violence Against Women in Media.”
