RTL 102.5 leads Italian radio as overall listenership falls in Q2 2026

Audiradio released its second‑quarter 2026 audience measurement for Italian national and local radio stations. The total daytime audience (Giorno Medio) dropped to 34.053 million, lower than both the previous quarter and the 2025 average.

RTL 102.5 remained the most listened‑to station with approximately 6.3 million daily listeners, keeping the top spot despite a slight decline. The RTL 102.5 Group, which also includes Radio Zeta and Radiofreccia, reaches over 9 million Italians in total. Other stations in the upper tier—Radio Italia (5.78 million), RDS (5.63 million), Radio Deejay (5.08 million) and Radio 105 (4.78 million)—also recorded decreases. Virgin Radio, Radiofreccia, RMC and m2o posted the few positive movements in the rankings.

Lorenzo Suraci, president of the RTL 102.5 Group, said, “L’attuale indagine sugli ascolti si sta modernizzando sempre di più perché la radio si è adattata ai tempi ed è fruibile su tutti i device esistenti.” The group’s digital platform RTL 102.5 Play grew by 19 % in the past year, with its content generating more than 200 million video views each month. Local‑station data show Radio Subasio leading the regional market, followed by Radio Bruno and others.

Overall, the Q2 2026 figures indicate a continued downward trend for most major Italian radio networks while RTL 102.5 retains its leadership position.
