RTL and Sky secure German NFL broadcasting rights through 2029

RTL and Sky have secured the German broadcasting rights for the NFL through the 2028/29 season. Starting in the 2026/27 season, the two broadcasters will share rights to show up to nine individual games per week, totaling more than 200 live matches per season. This shift follows RTL's acquisition of the pay-TV provider Sky in June 2026.

RTL will provide free-to-air coverage of specific Sunday games, night games, and all international games. Additional content will be available via RTL+ and Sky Sport, including the English original conference NFL RedZone. DAZN will no longer act as a live broadcaster but will continue to offer the league via the NFL Game Pass.

In conjunction with the upcoming NFL Munich Game, RTL Deutschland is also launching a premium sports documentary titled ‘Detroit Lions – Die Stunde der NFL-Underdogs’. Produced by Broadview, the film chronicles the Detroit Lions' transformation from a struggling franchise to a Super Bowl contender, featuring interviews with figures such as Amon-Ra St. Brown, Jared Goff, and Head Coach Dan Campbell.
