RTL News overtakes TV2 News in Hungarian viewership ratings
Recent Nielsen viewership data for the 33rd week of 2026 indicates a shift in the competition between Hungary’s major television broadcasters, RTL and TV2.
In the news category, RTL News outperformed TV2 News among the key 18-59 age demographic, drawing 200,500 viewers (25.7% share) compared to TV2’s 180,283 viewers (23.3% share). In the total population category, RTL News also led with 536,756 viewers (25.8% share) against TV2’s 529,989 (25.5% share). This represents a decline for TV2, which had previously led the news race in the 31st week.
In the magazine programming category, TV2 maintained an advantage with ‘Aktív’ attracting 136,223 viewers (16.9% share), surpassing RTL’s ‘Fókusz’, which drew 132,955 viewers (16.4% share). Overall, while TV2 maintains a general lead in some areas, RTL has remained stable while TV2 has seen recent fluctuations in its news viewership.
