RTL news program terminated early due to audio failure

The news program ‘RTL aktuell’ had to be prematurely terminated on Saturday, August 8, due to significant technical difficulties. While the broadcast began normally, several pre-recorded segments, including a report on drought in Germany and a piece on railway savings prices, were aired without audio.

Moderator Maik Meuser attempted to manage the situation through three different segments, but the persistent lack of sound in prepared clips forced the station to end the news broadcast early. Interestingly, live connections, such as a report from Jessica Körner in Sinzig, remained functional with sound. Meuser apologized to viewers, stating, ‘I am sorry that we could not present the reports to you today with sound.’

Following the early conclusion of the news, the weather forecast was able to resume with both video and audio, and RTL filled the remaining time with a climate update.
