RTL removes “Diese Ochsenknechts” from Sunday lineup after three episodes due to falling ratings

Germany’s RTL halted the broadcast of the documentary‑soap “Diese Ochsenknechts” after only three episodes because viewership dropped sharply, from 570,000 for the premiere to 410,000 by the third airing. In the key 14‑49 age group the market share fell from 5.2% to 3.0%, and the overall share declined to 3.4%. The series, which had recently been moved from pay‑TV to free‑TV in July, will be replaced in the 19:10 Sunday slot by repeat episodes of the classic filler “Versicherungsdetektive”. All five episodes of the fifth season remain available on streaming platforms such as Sky, WOW and RTL+. Production issues were also reported, including a tension‑raising incident involving Jimi Blue Ochsenknecht during filming.
