RTL Radio launches new streaming app ahead of August 3 broadcast

RTL has released a free mobile app for its radio service, available now on Google Play and the Apple App Store. The app will begin regular programming on August 3 and currently streams only the Greatest Hits web channel, omitting the station’s regional FM/DAB+ feeds. Users can adjust buffer size and stream quality, use AirPlay to external speakers, and set a sleep timer, but features such as playlist history and proper favoriting are still incomplete.

At the same time, RTL’s broader digital offering includes free TV streaming through platforms like Zattoo, providing access to a range of German, Austrian and Swiss public channels without a cable subscription. The service notes the use of VPNs to bypass geoblocks and highlights its high‑capacity server network for reliable streaming across multiple European markets.
