RTL to broadcast Monaco Grand Prix free-to-air after Sky merger
The merger of RTL Deutschland and Sky Deutschland enables RTL to air the Monaco Grand Prix live on free‑to‑air television for the first time this season. Qualifying on Saturday begins at 16:00, with RTL’s coverage starting at 15:15; the Sunday race starts at 15:00, and RTL begins its broadcast at 13:30. Commentary is provided by Kai Ebel on‑track and analysts Heiko Waßer and Christian Danner. Sky also transmits the event.
In addition, RTL will show the German national football team’s pre‑World Cup friendly against the United States on Saturday evening at 19:05, with presenter Florian König reporting from Chicago. RTL managing director Inga Leschek said the partnership expands live‑sport availability and audience reach. The EU Commission approved RTL’s acquisition of Sky in June 2025 without conditions, aiming to strengthen the broadcaster’s position against international streaming services.
