RTMNU Launches Recruitment for 139 Assistant Professors as Faculty Shortage Persists

Rashtrasant Tukadoji Maharaj Nagpur University (RTMNU) issued a recruitment notification for 139 contractual Assistant Professor positions across various departments, offering a consolidated salary of Rs 40,000 per month. Applications are accepted online until 10 August 2026.

The university is also confronting a severe shortage of permanent faculty, with 172 of the 255 sanctioned teaching posts vacant and 489 non‑teaching posts unfilled. Senate member Adv. Manmohan Bajpai has written to Maharashtra Chief Minister Devendra Fadnavis urging immediate recruitment to address the gaps, highlighting that only two of 40 professor posts and 13 of 71 associate professor posts are currently occupied.
