Bruno Fernandes denies Portugal rift after Ronaldo departure

Portugal midfielder Bruno Fernandes has addressed the controversy surrounding Cristiano Ronaldo’s departure from the national team camp. Ronaldo left the squad following reports of a disagreement with manager Jorge Jesus after being named an unused substitute during a Nations League match against Denmark.

Speaking ahead of Portugal’s upcoming fixture against Norway, Fernandes emphasized that there is no rift within the squad. He stated that the team remains united and focused on performance, noting, “The most important thing is that, regardless of what happens, Cristiano Ronaldo will never cease to be the greatest symbol of our national team, of our football, and of the country.”

Fernandes urged the public to avoid taking sides and called for internal matters to be resolved privately. He expressed hope that any potential departure of the 41-year-old veteran would be handled as a celebration of his legacy rather than a rupture. Despite Ronaldo's absence, Portugal secured a 4-2 victory over Denmark and currently leads Group A4 in the Nations League.
