RTP management race enters final stage with four competing pairs

Four pairs of candidates have officially entered the race to manage RTP for the 2027-2029 triennium. The selection process, overseen by the Independent General Council (CGI), has concluded its application period.

The competing groups include the incumbent duo, Nicolau Santos and Hugo Figueiredo, who were selected in 2021 and reappointed in 2023. They face three other competing pairs:

• Francisco Teixeira, currently the country manager for WPP Group in Portugal, alongside Gustavo dos Santos Lima from Google. • Luís Castro, a former RTP journalist and presenter, paired with Luísa Ribeiro, the former financial administrator of RTP. • Pedro Mota Carmo, the former executive president of Nos Lusomundo Cinemas and Dreamia, who is repeating his 2021 candidacy.

The CGI has established a set of guidelines to define the management's direction under the theme 'A new cycle for RTP's Public Media Service.' A date for the conclusion of the selection process has not yet been announced.
