RTVE announces second season of 'Los archivos secretos del NO-DO

RTVE has announced the second season of the documentary seriesLos archivos secretos del NO-DO’. The production, a collaboration between RTVE and Minoría Absoluta, utilizes the archives of the Filmoteca Española to reveal historical footage that was previously censored or hidden during the Franco dictatorship and the early Transition period.

The new season will consist of six episodes. Promoted with high-definition footage of the February 23, 1981, coup attempt involving Colonel Tejero, the series aims to provide a social and cultural perspective of the era through previously unseen images. Other topics expected to be covered include the arrival of hippies in Ibiza, historical cycling rivalries, and various moments of social tension that the regime sought to obscure.

The first season was a commercial success for La 1, achieving a 15% audience share during its premiere. The project continues to use digital restoration to preserve and make public the thousands of film canisters held by the Filmoteca Española.
