RTVE begins filming 'Chiquito el Grande' miniseries on famed Spanish comedian

RTVE has started shooting the two‑part miniseries “Chiquito el Grande”, which will chronicle the life of Gregorio Sánchez Fernández, popularly known as Chiquito de la Calzada. The production consists of two 90‑minute episodes that trace six decades from his post‑war childhood in Málaga to his breakthrough as a television humorist in the 1990s.

Alfonso Sánchez portrays Chiquito and also serves as co‑director, co‑writer and co‑producer. Inma Cuevas plays his wife Pepita. The series is a co‑production of Warner Bros. ITVP Spain, Mundoficción Producciones and RTVE, directed by Jacobo Martos and Alfonso Sánchez. Filming is taking place across Andalusia, with locations in Málaga, Seville, Torremolinos and scenes shot at the RTVE Production Centre in Seville. The supporting cast includes Alberto López, Carlos Bardem, Jesús Carmona, Antonio Dechent, Carmen Avilés, Joaquín Núñez, Mari Paz Sayago and Leonor Lavado.
