RTVE faces tension as La Revuelta viewership declines

The late-night program ‘La Revuelta’ on RTVE is experiencing a significant decline in audience share, leading to internal tension at the public broadcaster. Recent data shows the program has fallen behind competitors such as ‘El Hormiguero’ and ‘Horizonte’, with some nights seeing it drop to third place in its time slot.

This decline follows a high-cost recruitment strategy. David Broncano was signed to a contract reportedly valued between 12 and 14 million euros annually over three seasons, an investment intended to challenge the dominance of Antena 3’s ‘El Hormiguero’. The high expenditure has drawn criticism regarding the use of public funds.

Internal reports suggest growing dissatisfaction within RTVE. Broncano has reportedly made ironic remarks regarding his potential departure, while the program's struggle to maintain its position has placed pressure on RTVE leadership, including President José Pablo López.
