Televisión Española celebrates 70 years of broadcasting

Televisión Española (TVE) marks its 70th anniversary, having officially commenced broadcasts on October 28, 1956. To commemorate the milestone, RTVE has launched a dedicated thematic channel, ‘RTVE 70 años’, on its RTVE Play platform. This continuous 24-hour channel provides exclusive access to the corporation’s historical audiovisual archive, featuring classic programs, series, and significant historical moments.

The anniversary highlights the evolution of the public broadcaster from its origins as a state-controlled medium during the Franco regime to its current role in a competitive digital landscape. Recent commemorative activities included a nostalgic ‘Telediario’ production in Robledillo de la Jara and a special nocturnal broadcast featuring historical figures such as Iñaki Gabilondo, Pepa Bueno, and Olga Viza.
