RTVE moves ‘My Brilliant Friend’ to La 1 following record La 2 ratings

The Italian television series ‘My Brilliant Friend’ (L’amica geniale), based on the literary tetralogy by Elena Ferrante, has achieved significant viewership success following its premiere on Spain’s La 2.

Upon its debut, the series averaged 6.2% audience share with 488,000 viewers, attracting a total of 1,983,000 unique viewers. This performance marks the best fiction premiere on La 2 in the last 20 years. Due to these high ratings, RTVE has scheduled a special broadcast of the series on its main channel, La 1, for an upcoming Saturday.

The production, directed by Saverio Costanzo, follows the lifelong friendship between two women, Elena and Lila, growing up in a poor neighborhood in Naples starting in the 1950s. While the series was previously available in Spain via HBO Max, its arrival on public television represents a strategic move by RTVE to bolster its European fiction programming.
