RTVE reporter assaulted during far-right protest in Barcelona
Julia Menéndez, a reporter for the Spanish public broadcaster RTVE (La 2), was assaulted while covering a far-right demonstration in Barcelona. The protest was organized by the group Reconquista.
Toni Estévez, the spokesperson for Reconquista, is identified as the individual who carried out the physical attack. During the incident, Estévez reportedly struck the reporting team and violently hit a microphone belonging to the program ‘Malas Lenguas’. The attack occurred as the spokesperson was expressing frustration over the low turnout of the event, which had approximately 50 participants.
Jesús Cintora, a presenter for the program, addressed the incident in the studio, stating that the aggression appeared to be intentional rather than accidental, noting that the specific microphone targeted belonged to his program.
