RTVE to premiere Italian series ‘My Brilliant Friend’ on La 2

The acclaimed Italian series ‘My Brilliant Friend’ (La amiga estupenda) is set to premiere on the Spanish television channel La 2 this Sunday at 22:00. Based on the ‘Neapolitan Novels’ saga by Elena Ferrante, the production follows the complex, lifelong friendship between two women, Elena and Lila.

The narrative begins in a working-class Naples neighborhood during the 1950s and spans six decades. The story is framed by an adult Elena reflecting on her past following the mysterious disappearance of Lila. The series features a rotating cast of actresses to portray the protagonists at different ages, including Elisa Del Genio, Ludovica Nast, Margherita Mazzucco, Gaia Girace, Alba Rohrwacher, and Irene Maiorino.

While the series has previously been available via HBO Max, its arrival on La 2 marks its availability on free-to-air television in Spain. The complete series will also be accessible through the RTVE Play streaming platform.
