RTX reports record backlog, earnings beat, fuels investor buying

RTX Corporation posted second‑quarter 2026 revenue of $24.7 billion, a 14.5% year‑over‑year increase, and an earnings per share of $1.89 that topped analyst expectations. The company highlighted a record order backlog of $289 billion, providing strong visibility for both its commercial aviation aftermarket and defense programs, and raised its full‑year 2026 EPS outlook to $7.10‑$7.25.

Collins Aerospace, a unit of RTX, announced a joint venture with Etihad Airways Engineering to deliver maintenance, repair and overhaul services for Airbus A350 and Boeing 787 aircraft in Abu Dhabi, with the new facility slated to begin operations in the first quarter of 2027. Pratt & Whitney secured a $1.3 billion contract to supply spare parts for the F135 engine that powers all variants of the F‑35 fighter jet.

Investor activity showed Sapient Capital LLC cutting its RTX stake by 15.2% to 49,444 shares, while other institutional investors such as World Investment Advisors, Milestone Asset Management Group, and Truist Financial increased their holdings. Institutional investors now own about 86.5% of RTX’s outstanding shares. Redwire Corporation, a peer in the space‑infrastructure market, announced a major campus expansion in Huntsville, Alabama, and opened a new research facility in Indiana, underscoring continued growth in the defense‑related space sector.
