Rua da Saúde wins international landscaping award in Italy

The Rua da Saúde project, developed by the Santa Catarina-based architecture firm Somos EXP for the Santa Casa de Porto Alegre, has won first place at the City’scape Award 2026. The award, presented by the Italian institution PAYSAGE TOPSCAPE in collaboration with the National Council of Architects, Planners, Landscape Architects and Conservators of Italy, recognizes excellence in international landscaping.

The project won in the category dedicated to landscapes for well-being, hospitals, care spaces, and therapeutic gardens. By incorporating gardens, trees, and walking paths, the design transformed a maintenance area of the hospital complex into a welcoming space intended to provide comfort and decompression for patients, families, and medical professionals.

The award was presented on September 18 during the closing of the City’scape Symposium held at the Triennale di Milano. The Somos EXP partners—Carlos Henrique Corrêa, Thayssa Christensen, and Laís Effting de Andrade—received the honor alongside project coordinator Simone Freitas Dall’Igna.
