Ruag announces reorganization and potential 49 job cuts

The Swiss state-owned defense company Ruag has announced a reorganization plan that could result in the loss of up to 49 jobs. The affected locations include Bern, Thun, and Emmen.

In the Business Area Ground located in Thun, the company reported insufficient capacity due to a lack of customer orders, which could lead to up to 24 job cuts. Additionally, Ruag plans to outsource various IT functions to the Federal Office of IT and Telecommunications (BIT) to increase efficiency and eliminate duplicate structures. This outsourcing could impact up to eight positions in Thun, eight in Bern, and nine in Emmen.

A final decision on the job cuts has not yet been made. Ruag is currently conducting a consultation process with employees, which is expected to conclude by October 6. A social plan is prepared for affected staff, including extended notice periods and professional career counseling services funded by the company.
