Rubí Enríquez lauded for DIF work amid political tussles in Ciudad Juárez

Rubí Enríquez Parada presented the fifth activity report of the Municipal System for Integral Family Development (DIF) in Ciudad Juárez. Municipal leaders praised her, with interim mayor Cruz Pérez Cuéllar thanking her as a spouse and public servant, and new mayor Héctor Ortiz Orpinel highlighting the impact on thousands of families, especially the elderly, children, women and people with disabilities. Ortiz also noted coordination with the federal government under President Claudia Sheinbaum and announced that Angélica Mendoza Beltrán will succeed Enríquez as DIF president.

During the same event Enríquez hinted at a political need, saying “a female governor is needed in Chihuahua,” directing the comment toward federal welfare delegate Mayra Chávez. The remark has fueled speculation ahead of the 2027 gubernatorial race. In parallel, PAN officials accused interim mayor Pérez Cuéllar of lying about the presence of street‑sweeping machines in the city, intensifying pre‑electoral disputes between Morena and the opposition.
