AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim shifts to four-man defense

AC Milan manager Ruben Amorim is preparing a significant tactical shift, moving away from his traditional 3-4-2-1 formation toward a more offensive 4-2-3-1 system. This change, which was tested during recent matches against Lecce and in a friendly against Padova, is expected to be formally implemented in the upcoming match against Sassuolo.

The new setup aims to better utilize the squad's attacking talents, providing more freedom to players like Samuel Chukwueze and Diego Moreira, while allowing Christian Pulisic to operate more effectively behind the striker. The transition also seeks to provide greater defensive protection for veteran midfielder Luka Modric and create more opportunities for striker Gonçalo Ramos.

As the team returns to training following the international break, Amorim is also managing player fitness and squad depth. While Modric's recent international performances have drawn scrutiny regarding his physical conditioning at age 41, Amorim has emphasized the importance of his role in the team's project. Additionally, the club is reportedly looking toward the January transfer window for defensive reinforcements, with Manchester United's Leny Yoro emerging as a potential target.
