AC Milan prepares for Lazio match amid Pulisic return
AC Milan head coach Ruben Amorim is preparing his squad for a critical Serie A match against Lazio at the Stadio Olimpico. Following a recent draw against Juventus, Amorim has emphasized the need for increased aggression and energy, noting that the team must work on maintaining pressure to avoid losing possession in dangerous areas.
A major talking point ahead of the fixture is the expected return of Christian Pulisic. The American winger, who has been sidelined since suffering a leg injury during the 2026 World Cup, is anticipated to feature in the lineup. Amorim expressed satisfaction with Pulisic’s eagerness to return to action despite his recent lack of playing time.
Tactically, Amorim is managing a delicate balance in midfield. He has addressed the use of veteran Luka Modric, acknowledging that while the 41-year-old may lack the physical capacity for constant high pressing, his ability to control tempo and possession is vital to the team’s identity. This presents a strategic choice between the dynamism of younger players like Ardon Jashari and the game management provided by Modric.
Probable lineups suggest Milan may utilize a 3-4-2-1 formation, potentially featuring Ruben Loftus-Cheek in an attacking midfield role alongside Cisse, supporting striker Gonçalo Ramos. The match serves as a key test for Amorim’s evolving tactical philosophy and his ability to integrate returning stars into a cohesive unit.
