Ruben Gallego suggests removing Trump-related landmarks
During an appearance on CNN’s ‘State of the Union,’ Arizona Senator Ruben Gallego discussed his potential future presidential ambitions and his stance on the legacy of Donald Trump. When asked by host Jake Tapper whether a future candidate should advocate for removing various structures or emblems associated with Trump in Washington D.C.—such as a White House ballroom or an arch—Gallego expressed support for removing most of them.
Gallego argued that Trump has left a ‘stain’ on the country by eroding democracy and attempting a coup on January 6. He stated that because Trump has sought to destroy institutions like the Department of Justice and attempted to rename landmarks like the Kennedy Center, the country needs to ensure his influence is removed from national honorifics and emblems.
