Ruben Loftus-Cheek records low distance covered for AC Milan
Statistical data from the first five matches of the Serie A season reveals that AC Milan midfielder Ruben Loftus-Cheek recorded the lowest running distance among players who appeared in every match for the club. Loftus-Cheek covered a total of 25.8 kilometers, a figure slightly lower than goalkeeper Mike Maignan, who covered 25.9 kilometers.
While the raw totals appear unusual, analysts note the difference in playing time: Maignan played 450 minutes, whereas Loftus-Cheek played 210 minutes. When adjusted for minutes played, Loftus-Cheek averaged approximately 123 meters per minute, compared to Maignan’s 57 meters per minute.
In the broader Milan squad, Gonçalo Ramos led the team in distance covered with 57.3 kilometers. Journalist Luca Bianchin suggested that Loftus-Cheek’s perceived lack of intensity and discontinuity may lead to reduced playing time under manager Ruben Amorim as other players gain prominence.
