Ruben van Bommel apologizes for collision with Aaron Bouwman

PSV attacker Ruben van Bommel has accepted full responsibility for a heavy collision with Ajax defender Aaron Bouwman during a recent match. Van Bommel described his actions as “not handy” and “a bit reckless.”

Bouwman sustained a bruised sternum and a bruised lung as a result of the incident, which required a hospital stay and will sideline him for several weeks. Following the match, Van Bommel visited the Ajax locker room to apologize personally and later sent a follow-up message once the medical diagnosis was confirmed.

Van Bommel noted that his family name, associated with his father Mark van Bommel, has influenced public perception of the incident. Meanwhile, football analyst Aad de Mos commented that Bouwman’s strong performances prior to the injury had made him a potential candidate for a debut with the Dutch national team under new coach Xavi.
