Ruben Van Gucht facilitated meeting between Tom Boonen and Wiebeke De Wachter

Journalist Ruben Van Gucht played an unexpected role in the relationship between former world champion cyclist Tom Boonen and Wiebeke De Wachter.

De Wachter, who previously interned at Sporza, revealed that her life changed following a phone call from Van Gucht after her graduation. He invited her to participate in a new program about former cyclists titled ‘De Kleedkamer’. During the production of this program, she met Boonen, who was one of the invited guests. While the initial connection was not immediate, the two eventually reconnected and began a relationship.
