Rubens Barrichello sues Scuderia Bandeiras over Stock Car exit

Racing driver Rubens Barrichello has filed a lawsuit against Scuderia Bandeiras and its owner, Átila Abreu, seeking approximately R$ 2.4 million in damages. The legal action follows the team's abrupt withdrawal from the Stock Car Pro Series in July, after only five of the twelve scheduled stages had been completed.

Barrichello, acting through himself and his company B11 Marketing Esportivo, is seeking the resolution of his contract, the suspension of an exclusivity clause, and compensation for material and moral damages. The lawsuit alleges that while Barrichello fulfilled his obligations, the team's sudden exit left him without a car or structure to compete for the remainder of the season. The claim includes unpaid contract installments, unpaid sponsorship commissions, and a contractual penalty.

Átila Abreu previously stated that the decision to leave the category was due to alleged contractual breaches by the Stock Car organization, citing legal insecurity and tax issues. The case is currently being processed in the 10th Civil Court of Sorocaba, São Paulo.
