Rubens Barrichello to drive Williams F1 car at Interlagos
Former Formula 1 driver Rubens Barrichello will return to the cockpit of a Formula 1 car during the 2026 São Paulo Grand Prix. As part of a special initiative titled ‘Volta Histórica’, the 54-year-old Brazilian will drive the Williams FW33, the same model he piloted during his final F1 season in 2011.
The demonstration is expected to take place on Sunday before the main race. Barrichello, who currently competes in Stock Car, described the event as a long-held personal desire and a ‘farewell lap’ to honor his career. He noted that the action is supported by ALE Combustíveis, a long-time partner of the driver.
Throughout his 19-season Formula 1 career, Barrichello achieved 11 victories, 14 pole positions, and 68 podium finishes, finishing as the world championship runner-up in 2002 and 2004.
