US officials signal potential roadmap for Ukraine peace talks
US Secretary of State Marco Rubio indicated that a roadmap for resuming trilateral negotiations regarding the conflict in Ukraine could potentially be developed in the coming weeks. Rubio noted that the United States remains ready to serve as a mediator following substantive discussions held in Kyiv and Moscow over the weekend.
US special envoys Steve Witkoff and Jared Kushner conducted visits to both the Russian and Ukrainian capitals to engage with government representatives. While Rubio expressed cautious optimism about reaching an acceptable conclusion, Kremlin spokesperson Dmitry Peskov denied the existence of any fully formulated or coherent roadmap for ending the war. Peskov stated that Russia does not wish to publicly discuss specific elements of a potential peace agreement at this time.
